We offer complete pet care for our patients!

Our Services

Anesthesia
We utilize the safest available anesthetics to provide that extra margin of safety, especially for our older or high risk patients. During all anesthetic procedures the patient's vital signs are monitored using the most modern equipment, such as pulse, oxygen, and blood pressure.

Annual and Biannual Exams
Because of the shorter life span of our pets, we stress the importance of regular physical examinations. Thorough check-up and preventative care can help alleviate serious health problems. Vaccines are scheduled to your pet's needs after an assessment of risk of exposure. Wellness blood profiles and urinalysis are recommended for many pets at certain ages or for certain risk factors.

Bathing
Treat your pet to a luxurious bath. Our special, cleansing baths remove dirt, debris and that doggie pet odor – your pet will feel fresh and revitalized. If scratching is a problem, our medicated baths contain soothing agents that stop the itching. Services also include nail trim and ear cleaning.

Dental Care
Regular professional cleaning is important to maintaining your pet's teeth. We use modern and safe ultrasound to clean each tooth thoroughly - above and below the gum line. Technicians polish teeth to create a smooth, lustrous tooth surface more resistant to plaque buildup. Fluoride treatments help strengthen enamel and reduce tooth sensitivity. Advanced dental care is available.

Digital Radiology
Radiology – or X-rays – help our veterinarians evaluate muscular-skeletal, cardiovascular (cardiopulmonary), gastrointestinal, reproductive and urinary systems. Our modern radiology equipment provides high quality radiographs to aid in the quick diagnosis of many disorders or be sent via e-mail to a specialist if needed for complicated cases.

Euthanasia Services
Saying goodbye to a long-time friend is painful. We work with clients to ensure their pet's comfort and dignity. Services include taking care of the remains as directed by the client.

High Quality Service
As noted in our mission statement we will provide the highest standard of care and treat our patients as if they were our own pets.
Emergency and Critical Care
Please call our main telephone number for instructions for after-hour emergencies (618) 628-1560 or contact Hawthorne Animal Hospital at (618)288-3971.

General Internal Medicine
We have numerous tests that can be performed in our in-house laboratory. Utilize commercial veterinary laboratories for other specialized tests.

High Quality Prescription Diets
We carry both Purina and Science Diets prescription diets for all of the special needs of all our patients. Be sure to ask us about treats that your pet may be able to enjoy, even if it is on a prescription or restricted diet.

Individualized Heartworm, Flea & Tick Prevention
We develop programs for the specific needs of your pet and your own particular environmental situation. We will review with you the best ways to control fleas and ticks in your house, in your yard, and on your pet.

Microchip Pet Identification
Microchips have helped reunite thousands of pets with their families. We offer the most widely used microchip products to increase the chances of a safe recovery. The procedure just takes seconds and is relatively painless. The microchip is about the size of a grain of rice. And is recommended for companion pets of all species, breeds, and ages.

Pain Management
Veterinary patients feel pain and discomfort under the same circumstances as people do. We know that recognizing and alleviating pain in animals is the essence of good patient care.

Surgical Services
We offer the most advanced surgical techniques and technology. All patients are carefully screened for safety, and anesthetics are specifically tailored to your pet. Surgical services and facilities include: fully trained veterinary and technical staff, to ensure the safest, most efficient, state-of-the-art procedures for your pet; heated surgery tables for greater comfort; advanced sterilization techniques; oxygen saturation monitors; intensive after surgery care and full blood testing.
